Query the Database

The database can be queried by means of advanced search options. Every edition is identified at least by its bibliographical data. To many editions we have added an image of the title page. Finally, one edition of each of the 15 most important works of Erasmus has been digitized in full, plus the Opera Omnia printed at Basle in 1538–1540 (known as BAS) and the Opera Omnia published at Leiden in 1703-1706 (known as LB). Choose “show facsimiles only” to find these fully available editions (after having entered one or more search terms).

For the moment, it is not possible to search in the texts themselves. This option will be made available as soon as optical character recognition will allow for the automated transformation of early-modern printed letters into their modern counterparts within an acceptable margin of error.
